At Cornell: Suhey had a strong freshman season while playing a key role on the junior varsity. A versatile defensive player, he is capable of playing defensive back or numerous safety positions. He will have a chance to earn playing time in the defensive backfield and on special teams this coming year. Suhey is enrolled in the College of Architecture, Art and Planning.

At State College Area: Suhey helped State College Area HS to a 12-3 record and a spot in the state semifinals as a senior. He ranked fourth on the team in tackles (64) as a junior, adding four interceptions, five pass breakups and a fumble recovery. He also threw for a touchdown as the team’s backup quarterback. A three-year starter, he saw a greater role on offense at fullback as a senior and caught eight passes for 130 yards and four touchdowns.

Personal: Douglas Higgins Suhey is the son of Larry and Chris Suhey and has an older sister, Mandy, a 2007 Cornell graduate. His father, uncles Matt and Paul, grandfather Steve and great-grandfather Bob Higgins all played football at Penn State, as do his cousins Kevin and Joey currently. His uncle Matt played 10 seasons in the NFL for the Chicago Bears, while his grandfather (Pittsburgh Steelers) and great-grandfather (Canton Bulldogs) were both All-Americans at PSU before embarking on professional careers.
