At Cornell
Brovender played in three games as a reserve on the defensive line as a junior in 2013. The converted tight end posted four tackles and recovered a fumble on the season. He opened the campaign with a pair of tackles in the Homecoming win over Bucknell, then made two stops and recovered a fumble against Yale. Brovender spent his first two seasons on the scout team, moving from tight end to the defensive line during the spring of his rookie campaign. His size and athleticism will allow him an opportunity to become a successful pass rusher in 2014.

At Pine Crest School
Brovender was a first-team all-county selection at defensive end by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and a second-team all-county tight end by the Miami Herald as a senior at Pine Crest School. The four-year member of the football team averaged 23.8 yards per catch with a touchdown as a senior while posting 21 tackles, including 10 for a loss and nine sacks, on defense. He played swingman on a pair of state championship basketball teams and a state runner-up squad. Brovender also competed  for two seasons in weightlifting, finishing on the podium at sectionals as both a junior and senior.

Personal
Evan Robert Brovender is the son of Dr. Herman and Donna Brovender and has and older brother and sister and a younger brother. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
