As a senior (2019)

• Named honorable mention All-Ivy League at tight end.
• Had 20 catches for 226 yards and a touchdown in 10 starts.
• Also a top blocker for an offense that increased its scoring average, total offense and rushing touchdowns total and allowed one sack or fewer in half its 10 games..
• Caught a pair of passes for 46 yards in the season-opening win at Marist.
• Earned the start at preseason Ivy favorite Yale.
• Hauled in four passes for 16 yards vs. Georgetown.
• Had one catch for 11 yards against Colgate.
• Caught four passes for 68 yards and a touchdown, as well as hauling in a huge 26-yard reception on the final drive as Cornell rallied past Brown.
• Credited with four catches for 38 yards against No. 12 Princeton.
• Had two catches for 11 yards in the win over No. 12 Dartmouth.
• Caught two passes for 31 yards in the win over Columbia.

 

As a junior (2018)

• Started the team's first two games and was the leading receiver before missing the final eight games due to injury.
• Caught eight passes for 82 yards in two contests.
• Hauled in a career-high five passes for 47 yards against defending Ivy champ Yale.
• Caught a career-high three passes for 35 yards in the 2018 opener at Delaware while earning his first career start.

As a sophomore (2017)

• Played in all 10 contests at tight end and on special teams.
• Caught four passes for 42 yards.
• Made his varsity debut in the 2017 opener at Delaware, making one catch for six yards.
• Caught a 7-yard pass at Yale and a 4-yard pass in the win at Princeton.
• Had a 25-yard reception against Bucknell.
 

As a freshman (2016)

• Saw action on the junior varsity team.
 

Prior to Cornell

• Fitzgerald was an all-state selection in both football and baseball while attending the Gilman School.
• A Baltimore Sun all-metro pick as a senior while playing linebacker and tight end for the No. 13 team in the final USA Today poll, Fitzgerald helped his team to a pair of conference titles.
• He was invited to play in the Maryland-DC Crab Bowl senior all-star game.
• He was elected team captain of both the football and baseball teams, earning all-metro honors on the diamond as well.
 

Personal

• John Carroll Fitzgerald is the son of Tim and Mary Pat Fitzgerald and has a younger sister.
• He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
