As a junior (2015)
• Played in four games on special teams and at wide receiver.
• Earned a carry against Dartmouth

As a sophomore (2014)
• Young played in seven contests as a sophomore, making one catch for 19 yards and carrying the ball twice for 30 yards.
• Earned his first varsity letter.
• Touched the ball twice against Dartmouth, hauling in a 19-yard pass and running once for 18 yards.
• Had a 12-yard rush in the win over Columbia.
 
As a freshman (2013)
• Young spent his freshman season on the scout team.

At Davidson Day School
• Young was a two-time all-state player for a pair of state championship squads at Davidson Day School.
• He was selected to play in the Oasis Shriners All-Star Bowl.
• A two-star prospect according to Rivals.com, Young was a three-year letter winner on the gridiron while playing receiver, corner and serving as a kick returner.
• As a senior he caught 50 passes for 1,007 yards and nine touchdowns, and added 28 tackles, five interceptions and 11 pass breakups on the defensive side of the ball.
• He caught 51 passes for 680 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior.
• Young won a pair of state championships in track and field as a member of the school's 4x200 (2011) and 4x400 (2012) relay teams.
• He was a four-year member of the track squad as a sprinter. He also played one season of basketball.

Personal
• David Jordan Young is the son of David and Faith Young and has a younger sister.
• He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
