One of the team's top athletes, Aharanwa is a big-hitting safety who is capable of making plays all over the field. After missing the 2009 season with an injury, he will attempt to break into the lineup full-time in 2010. Aharanwa saw action in nine contests for the Big Red as a freshman to earn his first varsity letter in 2008. He posted 14 tackles, including a tackle for loss. Aharanwa's top game was an eight-tackle effort in the win over Dartmouth that also featured his first career tackle behind the line of scrimmage. Aharanwa is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.

At L.D. Bell
An all-district linebacker at L.D. Bell HS, Aharanwa was a defensive captain for a team that reached the state playoffs in his junior and senior years. Aharanwa posted nine sacks, 13 quarterback hurries, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery as a senior. As a junior, he notched five sacks, seven hurries, five pass breakups and recovered an on-sides kick.
