As a junior (2015)
• Started all 10 contests on the defensive line, posting 27 tackles with 1.5 for a loss and two pass breakups.
• Had two tackles and batted down a pass at Princeton.
• Started the 2015 season opener against Bucknell, making a pair of tackles and breaking up a pass.
• Registered seven tackles and a TFL at Yale.
• Recorded six tackles at Dartmouth.
• Notched four tackles against Colgate.
• Notched four tackles with one for a loss at Sacred Heart.

As a sophomore (2014)
• Posted 19 tackles, including one for a loss in eight games, including four starts.
• Had a career-high eight tackles in the season-opener at Colgate after earning the start at defensive tackle.
• Posted four tackles and a tackle for loss at Bucknell.
• Had three stops vs. Yale and two against Princeton.
• Missed two games due to injury.
• Earned his second varsity letter.

As a freshman (2013)
• Staples had a strong freshman campaign on the defensive line in 2013, making 12 tackles in nine contests as a rookie.
• He posted a career-best three tackles at Princeton after notching two tackles apiece in each of the team’s previous three games.
• Staples broke up a pass against Monmouth to go along with his two stops.
• He earned his first varsity letter.

At Radnor HS
• Staples earned second-team all-state honors as a senior at Radnor HS.
• A first-team all-league and all-area selection, he was ranked as the fifth-best defensive end in Southeastern Pennsylvania by the Philadelphia Inquirer.
• He was an honorable mention all-Eastern Pennsylvania pick by EasternPAFootball.com.
• The three-year starter on both the offensive and defensive lines, he was also a three-year letter winner on the lacrosse team.

Personal
• Michael Charles Staples is the son of Bill and Anne-Marie Staples and has a younger brother and sister.
• He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
