Biography

As a senior (2019)

• Started in two contests at quarterback, completing 30-of-42 passes for 242 yards while running for a pair of touchdowns and 88 yards.
• Made his first collegiate start at Marist, completing 15-of-20 passes for 130 yards and running 16 times for 79 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
• Missed the game at Ivy preseason favorite Yale due to injury.
• Completed 15-of-22 passes for 112 yards and an interception and ran for nine yards on 10 carries against Georgetown.
• Suffered a season-ending injury against Georgetown.
 

As a junior (2018)

• Saw action in four contests, rushing for 130 yards and two touchdowns and passing for 134 with two other scores.
• In his first extended playing time, completed 5-of-7 passes for 57 yards and a touchdown at Delaware to kick off 2018.
• Ran for a 24-yard touchdown as part of a five-carry, 47-yard day against Yale.
• Completed 4-of-5 passes for 65 yards and a touchdown and ran for 10 yards in the win over Sacred Heart.
• Ran 12 times for 75 yards and a touchdown against Harvard’s top-ranked national rushing defense in a win over the Crimson.
• Missed the final six games of the season due to injury.
 

As a sophomore (2017)

• Made his varsity debut in the win over Brown, running the ball once.
 

As a freshman (2016)

• Played both quarterback and wide receiver while seeing valuable playing time on the junior varsity.
 

Prior to Cornell

• Catanese was a first-team all-state and all-county selection as a senior at H. Frank Carey HS, helping his team to a pair of county titles.
• He was a National Football Foundation Golden 11 winner for his local chapter and was selected to the all-Long Island team.
• Catanese was a two-time finalist for the Don Snyder Award as the best quarterback in the county, winning the award as a senior.
• MSGVarsity.com named him one of the Super 7 Quarterbacks on Long Island.
• Catanese threw for 1,741 yards and 17 touchdowns and rushed for 807 yards and seven scores in his senior year.
• Catanese was also a two-time all-conference and all-county selection in basketball and played three years of varsity baseball.
• He captained both teams as a senior.
• Catanese participated in the Junior League World Series in 2012, helping his team finish third in the country and sixth in the world.

• Michael Walter Catanese is the son of Salvatore and Erin Catanese and has an older brother.
• He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
