Biography

At Cornell: Maxwell returns as an All-Ivy candidate for his senior year, his third season as a starter. Possessing a strong leg and good technique, Maxwell has averaged 38.1 yards per punt in his three seasons with 25 kicks placed inside his opponents’ 20-yard line. As a junior, Maxwell averaged a career-best 39.2 yards per kick and had 14 punts downed inside the 20. He had four games averaging over 40 yards per kick with career-long 52-yard punts against both Yale and Harvard. Maxwell has only three touchbacks in 93 career punts and has only had one kick blocked. He averaged 37.2 yards on his 44 punts as a sophomore, with four kicks over 50 yards and 11 of the punts placing his opponent inside its own 20-yard line. Maxwell saw his first extensive varsity time in the win over Albany in 2006, punting five times for an average of 42.0 yards, including a career-long 51-yard effort. He placed one kick inside the Great Danes’ 20-yard line. Maxwell punted twice as a freshman while playing in two games, averaging 29.5 yards per kick. He also successfully completed a fake punt, as the former high school quarterback connected on a 15-yard gainer for a first down in an overtime loss at Princeton. Maxwell is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.

At Timberline: Maxwell played quarterback and served as the punter at Timberline HS, earning second team all-league honors behind center by The Olympian. He averaged 40.1 yards per punt as a senior. He participated in the 2004 Northwest Kick It Camp and finished fourth in punting average and first in hang time. A four-year starter, he was named 2004 first-team preseason All-American at punter by Professional Kicking Services (PKS), earning camp-wide outstanding punter honors at the PKS Summer Scholarship Development Camp after placing first in camp hang time and distance competitions for all levels. At quarterback, Maxwell was 20-2 as a varsity starter. He led his team to its first unbeaten regular season (10-0) and first outright league championship in the school’s 30-year history as a junior. As a senior, Maxwell led his team to a 10-2 mark and finished with 15 touchdowns and 1,453 yards. He tossed for 27 touchdowns and only six interceptions in his varsity career, completing 63.6 percent of his passes and averaging 15.3 yards per completion.

Personal: Nicholas Robert Maxwell is the son of Robert Maxwell and Kathy Bogucci and has a younger sister.
