Biography

At Cornell: A converted running back who will now split out wide at receiver, Kilcoyne is an outstanding football player who could contribute anywhere on the field. He possesses good football instincts, exceptional speed and the ability to make people miss in the open field. Kilcoyne was productive all over the field as a junior, posting 374 all-purpose yards and scoring on a 94-yard kickoff return against Columbia to earn Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week. He carried the ball 42 times for 124 yards and caught 10 passes for 61 yards during the season. Kilcoyne opened the season with three carries for 25 yards and four catches for 26 yards in a win over Bucknell. He also had 65 yards on 10 total touches against Harvard. Kilcoyne averaged 27.0 yards on kickoff returns in the team’s final three contests. He averaged 5.0 yards per carry in ranking second on the squad in rushing in 2006, posting 350 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. He added six catches for 22 yards and also returned six total kicks on the year. Kilcoyne ran for at least 50 yards in four games, including a career-best 78 yards and a touchdown against Columbia. He earned the team’s Stone Travel "Big Play" award on offense for 2006. Kilcoyne started four games and rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns in his seven total appearances as a freshman in 2005. He was also named Ivy League Rookie of the Week after rushing for 70 yards and two scores against Georgetown. Kilcoyne had a long rush of 41 yards in that contest. He also carried nine times for 43 yards and a TD against Columbia. Kilcoyne is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

At Torrey Pines: Kilcoyne was a first-team all-league and all-county selection in 2004 as a senior at Torrey Pines HS. He finished the year with 1,116 yards rushing, 434 yards receiving and 16 total touchdowns. He also had 18 tackles and nine interceptions on defense. He was a third-team all-state selection by CalHiSports and earned academic honors as an all-state scholar athlete, a National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Scholar Athlete and a San Diego Union Tribune first-team all-scholastic selection. His 2003 and 2004 squads won the division title. Kilcoyne was selected to compete in California’s North-South All-Star game.

Personal: Shane Robert Kilcoyne is the son of John and Susan Kilcoyne and has two younger sisters. His father is a 1981 Cornell graduate and former first-team All-Ivy selection on the offensive line for the Big Red. He lettered two seasons.
