Wrout earned his second varsity letter in 2013, seeing action in five contest as a reserve running back and on special teams. He ended the season with one catch for 10 yards and made a special teams tackle. Wrout made his first career catch against Brown and was credited with a tackle at Dartmouth. He played in six contests as a freshman, making three tackles while playing primarily on special teams. He made a pair of tackles against Monmouth.

At Rio Mesa HS
Wrout was a two-time first-team all-league, all-county and all-area selection as a fullback and linebacker at Rio Mesa HS. He was a state finalist for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award after earning team MVP accolades as a senior captain. He racked up 79 tackles and seven sacks as a senior while running for 744 yards and eight touchdowns as a fullback on offense. He was named to the academic all-county team as a senior. As a junior, Wrout had 76 tackles and five sacks, while rushing for 1,151 yards and 12 carries while averaging 9.2 yards per carry. Wrout was also a member of the baseball and track and field teams.

Personal
Tanner Stephen Wrout is the son of Jeff and Lori Wrout and has a younger brother. He is enrolled in the School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
