At Cornell: Bax was a second-team All-Ivy selection in 2007 after finishing second in the Ancient Eight in tackles with 100. He added 4.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, four pass breakups and a forced and recovered fumble on the season. Bax had 15-tackle games against both Yale and Columbia among his six double-figure tackles contests. He added 12 tackles, including 1.5 for a loss, against Ivy champion Harvard. Bax started all 10 games on the year. An honorable mention All-Ivy selection as a sophomore, Bax recorded 57 tackles and a team-best 7.5 tackles for loss, while starting all 10 games in 2006. The big-play safety also posted two interceptions, five pass breakups and a forced fumble. His 41-yard interception return vs. Princeton set up a 1-yard touchdown that put Cornell ahead in its win over the Tigers, and he closed out the season with 10 stops and three tackles for loss in the win over Penn. Bax was a two-time Ivy League Rookie of the Week selection in 2005. He ranked sixth on the team and was first among all Ivy League rookies in tackles (40) and was one of the squad’s top playmakers with 2.5 tackles for a loss, an interception, a forced and recovered fumble and two pass breakups. Bax saw action in all 10 contests at both safety and defensive back, starting twice. His signature game came in the win at Dartmouth when he posted a season-best 10 tackles, including 1.5 for a loss with a half-sack, intercepted a pass and broke up another. The previous week he notched eight stops with a tackle for a loss and a forced fumble against Princeton. Bax possesses good speed, size and tremendous instincts. He is enrolled in the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning.
At Mount Carmel: Bax was a three-sport star at Mount Carmel HS, competing in football, basketball and volleyball. A first-team All-Catholic League selection in his final two seasons and an honorable mention all-state pick in his final campaign, Bax had 66 tackles as a senior for his 9-4 squad. He was named to the ISNET Chicago Super 7 all-star team as one of the seven best players in the Catholic League. Bax also earned team most valuable player honors as a senior.
