Biography

At W.T. White: A two-time all-district selection at W.T. White HS as a quarterback and punter, Tally earned second-team academic all-state honors by the Texas High School Coaches Association as a senior. A three-year varsity starter and two-year captain, he was named first-team all-area by On The Ball Magazine in 2007. As a senior, Tally was 114-of-211 passing for 1,598 yards and 17 touchdowns and added 12 receptions for 188 yards and three more scores as a wideout and also scored three rushing touchdowns. As the team’s place-kicker, he converted 27 PATs and connected on a pair of field goals. Tally also was a four-year starter on the baseball team, earning all-district honors three times for the three-time district champions. He served as team captain as a senior.

Personal: Zachary Fred Tally is the son of Halden and Jean Tally and has an older brother and sister. His grandfather, Elmer Simmons, played football for the 1942 Sugar Bowl champion University of Tulsa and later served as assistant football coach at Houston. Tally is enrolled in the School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
