At Cornell: A pass-catching tight end who has developed into a good blocker, Vredenburgh had a great spring and will challenge for a starting role in 2008. He can split out at wide receiver or run inside routes as a tight end and has one of the best set of hands on the Big Red. Vredenburgh earned his first varsity letter in 2007, hauling in eight passes for 97 yards while playing all 10 games. He had two catches for a career-best 29 yards in the win over Columbia and also caught two passes at Georgetown. Vredenburgh saw action in nine contests on special teams as a sophomore in 2006. He is enrolled in the College of Human Ecology.

At Chenango Forks: A two-time state champion, Vredenburgh was a first-team all-state selection as a junior and senior at Chenango Forks HS. A first-team Binghamton Press & Sun Bulletin All-Metro selection and an all-state scholar athlete, Vredenburgh was never on the losing end of a high school varsity game, going a perfect 26-0 as a two-way starter (wide receiver/defensive back). Vredenburgh owns the school record for most touchdown receptions in a game (three) and caught 18 passes for 335 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior. He also made 38 tackles on defense, returning two interceptions and a fumble for a touchdown. As a junior, he caught 20 passes for 445 yards and nine scores at receiver and made 77 tackles and posted eight sacks on defense. He also was a three-year letter winner in both basketball and baseball.

Personal: Zachary Donald Vredenburgh is the son of Donald and Pamela Vredenburgh and has two older brothers and an older sister. His mom is a 1979 Cornell grad and he is a fourth generation Cornellian.
