Woody Kampmann

Woody Kampmann enters his third season as an assistant coach for the Big Red. He joined the Cornell coaching staff after spending the 2006-07 season as an assistant coach to former Steve Donahue assistant Izzi Metz at Hobart. Kampmann brings tremendous energy to the sidelines for the Cornell staff.

In his first two seasons, Kampmann helped Cornell to back-to-back Ivy league titles, a first in school history. The 2007-08 team claimed the program's first Ivy League title in 20 years, setting school records for wins (22) and conference victories (14). Cornell became the 13th team in conference history to finish with a perfect league slate (14-0) and was the first non-Penn or Princeton team to accomplish that feat. The 2008-09 team finished 21-10 overall and posted school records in points (2,281), 3-pointers made (241) and blocked shots (121) while going unbeaten at home (13-0).

Kampmann helped the 2006-07 Hobart squad to an 11-14 mark and a 7-7 conference record, and helped the team improve throughout the season. The Statesmen won their final four games and five of its final six games overall. He helped in the development of first-team all-league selection John Grazioli and second-team pick Mike Manning.

Prior to his stint at Hobart, Kampmann spent the 2005-06 season as an assistant coach at Williams. While at Williams, Kampmann helped the Ephs to a 17-8 record while working primarily with the perimeter players. He also served as head coach of the junior varsity program.

As a college senior, Kampmann served as a student assistant coach at his alma mater, helping guide Hobart to a 16-11 record and a first-place finish in the league regular season standings. He was part of a coaching staff that was voted as the league’s best. The team earned a bid to the ECAC tournament, and he helped the Statesmen to a victory over Plattsburgh in the quarterfinals for the program’s first-ever postseason triumph.

Kampmann’s collegiate playing career began with two seasons as a letter winner at Colby College before transferring to Hobart. He earned one letter as a junior before transitioning to his role as a student assistant coach.

As a young coach, Kampmann has been actively involved on the summer camp circuit, working as a clinician at Princeton and the Eastern Invitational Basketball Camps.

Kampmann is a 2005 graduate of Hobart with a degree in American studies.
