Biography
Van Burck arrives at Cornell after spending the last season at Salt Lake Community College. The 6-11 center averaged 2.0 points and 1.3 rebounds for his 32-4 national junior college runner-up squad, playing 6.0 minutes per game and shooting 59 percent from the floor. He played at the University of Colorado as a freshman in 2006-07, averaging 0.3 points and 1.0 rebounds in nine games off the bench. Van Burck missed the majority of the season with a foot injury. He was highliy recruited out of Luther College HS, averaging 24 points, 15 rebounds and four blocked shots per game as a senior. The three-year letter winner was a member of the 2005 Regina All-Star team, was invited to compete in the Nike All-Canadian Camp and for the U17 Developmental National Team. He was a member of Saskatchewan’s 2005 Canada Games U17 summer team that captured a bronze medal. A two-year member of the Canadian Junior National Team, Van Burck was a two-time Provincial All-Star. He won MVP honors at the 54th Luther Invitational Tournament after averaging 33 points and 16.7 rebounds a game, including a 50-point effort in the semifinal. He was also named an all-star at the Sugar Bowl tournament in Raymond, Alta. Van Burck averaged 17 points, 10 rebounds and two blocked shots per game as a junior. He also lettered in football as the team’s starting left tackle that won a city and provincial title, as well as for the volleyball squad.
