An athletic big man with high-end potential, Reynolds is a tremendous rebounder and finisher around the basket. At 6-8, Reynolds has shown flashes of being an impact post player during his career. He is expected to play a key role in the frontcourt thanks in large part to his high energy level.
As a senior
Reynolds has played in 16 games, including getting his first career start at South Dakota. He scored six points, grabbed two rebounds and blocked two shots in 35 minutes of court time. Reynolds scored five points in the team’s win over Clarkson and blocked a pair of shots in the season finale at Yale.
As a junior
Reynolds averaged 1.0 points and 0.7 rebounds in 22 games in 2008-09. He made 10-of-17 field goals (59 percent) with three steals and two blocks in 74 total minutes for the Ivy League champs. He posted two points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal at Bryant. Reynolds had a career-high 10 points while adding four rebounds, a blocked shot and a steal in 12 minutes off the bench vs. Ursinus. He also played seven minutes in the win over Loyola-Chicago, scoring two points and grabbing two rebounds.
As a sophomore
Reynolds played in 14 contests in 2007-08, scoring two points, grabbing six rebounds, blocking five shots and dishing off four assists in 33 minutes of action. He scored two points and had three rebounds against Alvernia, adding two blocked shots against both Alvernia and NJIT.
As a freshman
Reynolds showed tremendous potential in his rookie season, averaging 1.4 points and 1.6 rebounds in 20 contests off the bench, shooting 69 percent from the floor (11-of-16) in just 6.4 minutes per game. Reynolds had an impressive eight-point, six-rebound game in just 13 minutes vs. Stony Brook. He made 4-of-5 field goals in the contest. He also had six points, including 4-of-5 free throws, in the win over Ithaca and notched four rebounds and his first career block at Binghamton.
At Blair HS
A first-team all-state selection by the Lincoln Journal Star as a senior at Blair HS, Reynolds averaged 17.2 points and 9.5 rebounds in his final season. Reynolds led his team to a 17-7 mark and a district title and was named the team’s most valuable player as both a junior and senior. Reynolds earned all-tournament honors in the state tournament in 2006, and he was selected to play in the Nebraska Coaches Association All-Star Game. He was a two-time All-Omaha World Herald and all-league selection, and earned second-team all-state honors as a junior. Reynolds was picked as an honorable mention all-state pick by the Associated Press his junior year. As a sophomore, Reynolds was an honorable mention all-state selection by the Omaha World Herald after averaging 14 points, seven rebounds and four blocks, including a school record 14 in one contest. He averaged 14.5 points and seven rebounds that season and closed out his career second on the school’s career scoring list with 1,043 points and is the all-time leading rebounder (515) and shot blocker (211) at the school. His 413 points as a senior ranked third all-time at Blair HS. Reynolds shot 59 percent or better from the field in each of his final three seasons, including a school record 65.3 percent as a junior. The academic all-conference pick was a three-sport star in high school, excelling in both track (100 meters, 400 meters, high jump, triple jump) and football (tight end).
Personal
Jonathan Patrick Reynolds is the son of Leroy and Rebecca Reynolds and has an older brother and sister. He is enrolled in the College of Engineering.
