Prior to Cornell
Otterman played last season the USPHL, where he posted 13 points through 32 games with the South Shore Kings and Philadelphia Flyers. He also competed for four seasons with Delbarton School, helping the Green Wave to state championships in 2011 and 2012. He was named first-team all-state and to the New Jersey Devils all-tournament team in 2014. He also played a junior season with the Jersey Hitmen, helping the team win the EJHL title in 2013. Otterman also had a decorated lacrosse career at Delbarton, where he was an Under Armor All-American and the 2014 MSG Varsity Player of the Year.
 
Personal
Charles Ferdinand Otterman is the son of Tim and Judith Otterman, and he has two brothers. His father played volleyball at UCLA, his grandfather, Lloyd, played football at USC, and his brother, Andrew, is committed to play football at Northwestern. He has two cousins who also attend Cornell. He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
