Scott Garrow is in his 13th season overall as an assistant coach with the Cornell men's hockey program, and his ninth season in his second term with the Big Red. Garrow originally began his career with Cornell coach Mike Schafer from 1995-99 before spending four seasons as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Western Michigan.
Garrow works primarily with the Big Red's forwards and coordinates Cornell's power play unit. He also works extensively with the breakdown of video and recruiting.
While an assistant at Western, Garrow was the team's recruiting coordinator and was instrumental in landing 2002 CCHA Rookie of the Year Pat Dwyer. That same year, the freshman class averaged 18.7 points per player -- the highest total in the CCHA.
A Goderich, Ontario, native, Garrow worked with the Broncos' forwards and goaltenders and was responsible for breaking down game tape and scouting video. In the past, Garrow has helped USA Hockey evaluate talent at the Michigan Select 16 and 17 Festivals. He also coordinated line changes for defensemen during games.
During his prior tenure at Cornell, Garrow worked with the forwards and goaltenders, spent time with the power-play units, broke down video and shared in recruiting responsibilities. He helped the Big Red earn two NCAA tournament berths with consecutive ECACHL tournament titles in 1996 and 1997.
Garrow began his coaching career as a volunteer assistant at WMU during the 1994-95 campaign.
A graduate of Western Michigan, Garrow was a four-year letter winner for the Broncos. As a player at WMU, he set a school record by playing in 161 consecutive games. During that span, Garrow compiled 41 goals and 61 assists for 102 points. He scored a career-high 15 goals in 1991-92 and at season's end, received the team's Catherine Lawson Sportsmanship Award. The centerman twice received honorable mention for the All-CCHA Academic Team (1991, 1992), graduating with a bachelor of science degree in history in 1992. He received a master's degree in sports studies from WMU in 2000.
Scott and his wife, Jennifer, reside in Dryden with their sons, Cole and Chase.
