2016-17 Men's Ice Hockey Roster
Biography
Senior Season — 2016-17
Anderson wrapped up his collegiate career by playing in all but two of the Big Red's games, helping the team rank 10th nationally in team defense. He had two points on the season, including the primary assist on Jeff Malott's second goal Jan. 13 at Princeton. Anderson then scored the winner Feb. 7 against Colgate on a shot that found its way through traffic from the right point. After the season, Anderson signed a professional contract with Herlev Eagles of the Metal Ligaen, the premier hockey league in Denmark.
Junior Season — 2015-16
Anderson once again appeared in 22 games, and his three goals were tied for the most on the team among defensemen — though one of those goals came during a stint while playing forward. His first goal came on a booming one-timer in the Big Red's 4-0 whitewashing of Niagara on Oct. 31, then his second goal came on the big stage when he gave Cornell a lead in the third period with a tip-in Nov. 28 at Red Hot Hockey against Boston University at Madison Square Garden. Anderson's final goal was also memorable, when his one-timed slap shot off a faceoff banked off the post and in for the lone goal of the Big Red's 1-0 victory over Union on March 4 in Game 1 of an ECAC Hockey Championship first round series at Lynah Rink.
Sophomore Season — 2014-15
Anderson became a regular contributor on the blue line, appearing in 22 of the team's 31 games. His his first collegiate goal was the game-winner in the Big Red's 4-2 victory over Princeton on Feb. 7, when he whistled a shot through traffic from the top of the right circle. He also had three assists for four points, and his plus-2 rating in ECAC Hockey play ranked second on the team and tops among defensemen.
Freshman Season — 2013-14
Anderson made his collegiate debut Jan. 25 in the Big Red's 3-2 victory over Clarkson at Lynah Rink. He also played in an exhibition game against the Russian Red Stars on Jan. 3.
Prior to Cornell
Anderson joins the Big Red after two seasons with the Hawkesbury Hawks of the Central Canada Hockey League. He had 13 goals and 29 assists for 42 points last season, finishing one point behind the team’s scoring leader while serving as an assistant captain. He was also selected as a CCHL Second Team All-Star in 2013 and was a two-time participant in the Central Canada Cup Challenge and a two-time invitee to the Team Canada World Junior A camp. Pervious to his time at Hawkesbury, Anderson played at the prep level with South Kent School.
