At Cornell
Johnston made an immediate impact in his collegiate debut, scoring a goal in the first period by flipping a wrist shot from the blue line past St. Lawrence goaltender Alex Petizian on Jan. 18. He appeared in four games for the Big Red, playing in back-to-back contests against St. Lawrence and Clarkson on Jan. 18 and 20.

Before Cornell
Johnston was the rookie of the year in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League, finishing the year third among all defensemen in the league in scoring. He finished the year with 10 goals and 39 assists for 49 points, while playing in 62 games for the Sudbury Junior Wolves.

Personal
Jacob Johnston is the son of Bob and Colleen Johnston. He has a sister, Sarah, who will be a senior for the Cornell women's hockey team, and another sister, Rebecca, who will be a freshman for the Big Red women's hockey team this fall. Yet another sister, Katie, finished her career as a member of the Harvard women's ice hockey team. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
