In his first season, he helped fifth-year goalkeeper Chayse Ierlan be ranked among the top-25 goalkeepers nationally in saves per game, save percentage, and goals-against average. Under Klan's watch, Ierlan was named first-team All-Ivy and an honorable mention All-American by the USILA.

Prior to Cornell

Klan comes to the Big Red from the Pingry School in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, where he served as the assistant men's lacrosse coach for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons. During his time there, he primarily worked with the goalies and defense.

Before that, Klan privately trained goalies in the New York City area, helping to develop some of the country's best goalkeepers to come from the tri-state area.

In college, Klan was a member of the Syracuse University men’s lacrosse team, where he played as a goalie, training under head coach John Desko and assistant Kevin Donahue. As a student athlete in high school, Klan was recognized as a US Lacrosse All-American as well as an Under Armor All-American. Klan was ranked the 3rd best goalie in the country by Inside Lacrosse. He was also named the U19 U.S. National Team goalie. Klan was a gold medalist before even beginning his collegiate career, earning one at the 2016 U19 World Outdoor Lacrosse Championship.
