Career Statistics
At Cornell
Sophomore (2011): Sharkey did not play during his sophomore season due to an arm injury.
Freshman (2010): Sharkey saw action in just one game during his rookie season, playing against Binghamton.
At Notre Dame HS
A four-year letter winner at Notre Dame high school, Sharkey was named first-team All-Section 4 as a junior and senior, after second-team honors as a sophomore. A two-time team MVP, he dominated in the face off circle, winning 71 percent as a senior captain. Following his senior season, Sharkey was named the Section 4 Exceptional Senior, won the Elmira Kiwanis’ Art Hirst Award as the male athlete of the year and was given the Notre Dame high school Ray Gavigan Award as the male athlete of the year. Sharkey also lettered four times in soccer and was a two-time all-conference honoree, and was selected to the 2008 NSCAA/adidas All-State team.

Matthew William Sharkey is the son of John and Christine Sharkey and he has a younger brother. He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
