Prior to Cornell
• Earned three varsity letters at West Genesee high school.
• Helped the Wildcats to a NY State runner-up finish and a Section III championship in 2015.
• A three-time league all-star, he was selected to play in the Exceptional Senior Game.
• Lettered four times in hockey, helping the team to three Section III championships and a NY State runner-up finish in 2016.
• Was a four-time all-league selection in hockey and was named all-state and All-CNY three times.
 
Personal
• Ryan Daniel McDonald is the son of Scott and Kathy McDonald and he has two brothers.
• Father, Scott, played hockey at Elmira College.
• Brother, Matthew, is on the St. Lawrence men’s lacrosse team.
• Uncle, Dan McDonald, played lacrosse at SUNY Potsdam and served as an assistant coach for the Big Red under Richie Moran from 1995-96.
• Uncles, Henry and Michael Perkins, played baseball for Columbia and UNC-Charlotte, respectively.
• Aunt, Tina Mahoney graduated from Cornell in 1988.
• Enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
