Biography
Tambroni on Turri: "Troy is one of the team’s most intelligent players. He does all the right things while he’s on the field and his leadership and understanding will provide an example for our younger players."
At Cornell: Turri saw action in six games during his sophomore season, playing against Binghamton, Yale, Penn, Harvard, Dartmouth and Hobart. He picked up one ground ball vs. the Quakers. Turri saw action in two games as a sophomore, getting playing time vs. Binghamton and at Hobart. As a rookie, Turri played in six games for the Big Red.
At West Islip: A scholastic All-American in 2004, Turri served as captain of his West Islip HS lacrosse team, helping the team earn the county and Long Island championships before reaching the state title game. A two-time all-division selection, he was an all-county pick as a senior. Turri was also a captain in football and earned all-county and all-division honors twice as a quarterback and defensive back. He was honored with the James LaBue Award which is given annually to the top scholar-athlete in Suffolk County.
Personal: Troy Michael Turri is the son of Ralph and Peggy Turri and is enrolled in Cornell’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations. He has a younger brother, Tyler, who is a freshman on the Lafayette College men’s lacrosse team. His father played football at Bucknell and his uncle, Bill, played lacrosse at Penn State. His uncle, Tim, graduated from Cornell in 1985.
