Biography
At Cornell
Junior (2016): Gahagan had an outstanding junior campaign, playing in 12 games primarily on the Big Red’s man-down defense that ranked sixth in the nation (.722). He finished the year with six ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Sophomore (2015): Gahagan saw a significant increase in playing time during his sophomore season, becoming a key member of the Big Red’s man-down defensive unit that ranked fourth in the Ivy League and 24th in the nation (.656). He saw action in all 16 games and finished the year with two ground balls.
Freshman (2014): Gahagan saw action in four games his rookie season, playing against Canisius, Penn, Dartmouth and Brown. He picked up one ground ball vs. the Quakers.
At Deerfield Academy
Gahagan earned two varsity letters in lacrosse at Deerfield Academy, helping his squad to back-to-back New England West Championships in 2012 and 2013. He played club lacrosse with the New England Storm. Gahagan also lettered twice in football and was a four-year member of the ice hockey team.
Personal
Walter Hamer Gahagan is the son of Terry and Kathy Gahagan and he has one older sister and one younger brother. His cousin, Lexi Dupont is a professional big mountain skier. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
