Biography
As a senior (2019-20)
Dual season
• 2-0 in singles play with wins at No. 4 and No. 6.
• 1-0 in doubles with a win at No. 3.
Fall tournaments
• Played in three tournaments during the fall, including the Dartmouth Invitational, the ITA Northeast Regional and the Harvard Chowder Fest.
• Went 2-5 during fall tournaments.
As a junior (2018-19)
Dual season
• 1-1 in singles playing at No. 4 and No. 6.
• Went 4-7 playing at No. 3 doubles.
• Paired up in doubles with Lev Kazakov and Eero Vasa where he posted a 3-4 record with Kazakov.
Fall tournaments
• 3-1 at the ITA Northeast Regional where he was defeated in the main draw round of 64.
• Went 2-1 in doubles at the ITA Northeast Regional alongside Kazakov where the pair lost in the round of 16.
• Was 1-1 in doubles at the Ivy-Plus where he paired with Daniel Soyfer.
As a sophomore (2017-18)
Dual season
• 5-1 in singles, all at the No. 6 spot, with a perfect 4-0 mark in Ivy League matches.
• Pulled away in three sets in a 4-2 win over nationally ranked Oregon on March 3.
• Rallied to win in three sets to clinch 4-3 win over 29th-ranked Harvard on April 15.
• Appeared in all of the team's doubles matches and tied for the team lead in victories with a 9-11 record.
• All but one doubles match came alongside David Volfson at the lower two positions.
• 3-3 in Ivy League doubles tilts, with victories against opponents from Princeton, Dartmouth and Brown.
Fall tournaments
• 8-2 in singles with five straight victories through qualifying and into the Round of 16 at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships.
• Won first three matches in the Garland Bracket at the Ivy Plus Invitational.
• 3-2 in doubles with a third-place finish with Evan Bynoe in the Wilder Bracket at the Ivy Plus Invitational.
As a freshman (2016-17)
• Appeared in one singles match during the dual season, defeating his opponent from Colgate in a super tiebreaker at the No. 4 position to cap the Big Red's 7-0 victory.
• Competed twice in doubles alongside Lev Kazakov on Jan. 19, with the first match resulting in a loss against Buffalo and the second match against Binghamton not reaching completion.
• In fall tournaments, was 6-1 in singles and 2-0 in doubles.
• Won his first six singles matches at the Penn Invitational and Ivy-Plus Invitational before being ousted in qualifying for the ITA Northeast Regional Championships.
• Both doubles victories came while teamed with Al Hill at the Penn Invitational.
Prior to Cornell
McAllister was a Tennis Recruiting Network four-star recruit ranked second in Missouri, fourth in the Plains Region and 107th nationally at the time of his arrival on East Hill. McAllister was the 2016 Missouri Class 1 singles champion after winning the doubles title the year before. He was also part of four team championships with MICDS and served as a captain during his senior season.
Personal
Joseph Louis McAllister is the son of John and Sally McAllister, and he has one brother and one sister. He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
