Biography
Senior Season — 2017-18
Fall tournaments
• 2-2 in singles and 1-3 in doubles.
• Advanced to quarterfinals of the Chace bracket in the Ivy Plus Invitational.
• Competed with Denton Ho in doubles in the Wilder bracket of the Ivy Plus Invitational, winning one consolation match.
Junior Season — 2016-17
Arem made one appearance in a dual match, recording a dominating 6-1, 6-0 victory in a No. 5 singles match against Colgate on Feb. 26. ... Arem was 6-2 in singles and 3-2 in doubles during fall tournament play. He won three singles matches in both the Ivy-Plus Invitational and Penn Invitational, also teaming with Dylan Brown to go 3-0 in doubles matches during the tournament at Penn.
Sophomore Season — 2015-16
Arem made six singles appearances from the No. 6 position in dual matches, recording his first collegiate victory in a three-set affair against Buffalo on Jan. 22. He also recorded his first doubles victory, teaming with Stefan Vinti at the No. 3 spot. He posted identical 1-5 records in both singles and doubles. ... Arem was 3-1 in singles and 0-1 in doubles during fall tournament play. He advanced through singles qualifying at the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional Championships before losing a first-round match in three sets.
Freshman Season — 2014-15
Arem made his collegiate debut on Jan. 17, when he dropped a 6-2, 6-3 affair against UTSA's Joao Riquelme in a match at No. 6 singles.
Prior to Cornell
Arem won the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools boys singles title with an undefeated season in 2013. His performance helped Awty International School to a second-place finish in the Henderson Cup competition, and he was also named the team's most valuable player. While at Awty, Arem was a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and received the Civitas Commended Effort and Conduct Award. He was the top-ranked boys junior player at the 12, 14 and 16 age groups, and was ranked second at the 18 age group. He has been ranked as high as 260th in the World ITF Boys 18s group.
Personal
Karim Arem is the son of Ridha and Noura Arem, and he has an older brother, Mansour, who is part of Cornell's Class of 2015. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
