Biography

As a senior (2022)

• Garnered honorable mention All-America accolades from Inside Lacrosse.
• Named Ivy League Midfielder of the Year and a unanimous first-team All-Ivy selection
• Captured second-team IWLCA All-Region honors.
• Sixth in the Ivy League in total goals (34) and ranked second on the Big Red in total points (41) while starting all 16 contests.
• Ranked among the team leaders in ground balls (first, 31), caused turnovers (fourth, 10) and draw controls (fourth, 19).
• Scored on 8-of-9 free position shots, and on 47 percent of her shots overall.
• Posted 14 games this season with multiple points, including 11 consecutive to close out the year.
• Scored four goals with an assist in the win over Albany, netted a career-high five goals against Yale and notched four-point efforts against both Columbia (3-1-4) and Harvard (1-3-4).
• Recorded a hat trick with four draw controls, two caused turnovers and two ground balls in a win over Penn.
• Recipient of Academic All-Ivy League honors.
 

As a junior (2021)

• Season canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.


As a sophomore (2020)

• Played in five contests as a reserve, scoring four goals and adding two assists, including a game-winner.
• Opened the season with two goals and an assist in the win over Villanova, scoring the game winner.
• Assisted on a goal in the victory over Marist.
• Scored two goals and scooped up a ground ball with a caused turnover in the win at Harvard.
 

As a freshman (2019)

• Saw action in all 16 contests with seven starts.
• Had 16 goals and six assists, with her 22 points ranking seventh on the team.
• Credited with game winning goals against Columbia and Yale, both conference road games.
• Was in the starting lineup for her collegiate debut at Villanova, earning two draw controls and winning a ground ball while scoring two goals.
• Posted a career-best three points in games against Penn State, Columbia and Yale.
• Her three goals against the Nittany Lions were a career best, as were her two assists at Rutgers.
• Scored a goal and caused four turnovers in a victory over Colgate.
• Won four draws in a win over Marist.
 

Prior to Cornell

• Played four years of varsity lacrosse at Greenwich HS.
• Twice earned US Lacrosse All-America honors, First Team All-Connecticut honors and First Team All-Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference (FCIAC) honors in 2017 and 2018.
• Was the recipient of the MSG Varsity All-Connecticut Player of the Year award in 2017.
• Named to US Lacrosse’s Academic All-American Team in 2017.
• In 2016 was tabbed to the All-Connecticut and All-FCIAC Second Teams.
• Was the spring 2018 recipient of the FCIAC Scholar Athlete award.
• Also was a standout cross country and indoor track and field star.
• Earned all-New England and all-FCIAC honors in 2017 and 2018, in addition to earning all-state honors her senior year.
• Was the 2018 FCIAC, State LL and State Open Champion in the 600-meter race.
• In 2017, she earned all-America honors and set the Connecticut state record in the 4x800-meter relay.


Personal

• Genevieve Susanne Aileen DeWinter is the daughter of Chris ‘88 and Jane DeWinter ’88, both of whom rowed varsity crew for the Big Red.
• She has three siblings, including her older sister Kate who is a member of the class of 2020.
• She is enrolled in the School of Hotel Administration.
