Biography


At Cornell
Junior (2012-13): Chandler saw action in 20 games during her junior season, averaging 6.8 minutes off the bench. She finished the season with 10 points and nine rebounds in 136 total minutes. Chandler had a season-high five points to go along with a steal at Binghamton, while scoring four points and handing out two assists in the win over Morgan State. Of her nine rebounds, six came during Ivy League action. 

Sophomore (2011-12): Chandler saw action in seven games during her sophomore campaign. She finished the year with nine points, including a season-high five at Harvard on March 3. Chandler also registered two rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block on the year.

Freshman (2010-11): Chandler played in 20 games, averaging nearly 10 minutes per contest during her rookies season. She finished the year averaging 2.3 points and 1.0 rebound per game. While having limited attempts, she shot the ball well, connecting on .341 (23-of-65) from the floor and .444 (8-of-18) from beyond the arc. She registered a career-high eight points and two assists at Syracuse.

At Little Elm HS
A four-year letter winner at Little Elm high school, Chandler was a two-time team captain. She was named her team’s offensive MVP in 2008 and was a two-time first-team all-district selection. Chandler also lettered three times in track. She played for the BST All-Stars AAU team, with her father Brian Hopgood serving as her coach, and helped the team to an YBOA national championship. She was named a BCI All-American and an AAU All-American in 2007.

Personal
Aspen Tyler Chandler is the daughter of Adrianne and Brian Hopgood and she has a younger brother and a younger sister. Her father Brian had a successful professional basketball career playing in the various domestic and overseas leagues. Collegiately, he played at University of Louisville and Oklahoma City University. While playing at OCU, he led his team to the NAIA national championship and was a two-time All-American. Her cousin Shelton Johnson currently plays football for the University of Wisconsin and her grandfather Wayne Long ran track and field in college. She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
