Freshman (2014-15): Odionu saw action in nine games during her freshman season, averaging 2.8 minutes per contest. She finished the year with seven points and six rebounds while shooting 50 percetn from the field. 

 
Prior To Cornell
Odionu played for Buckhorn high school, before graduating from Bishop Montgomery high school in Torrance, Calif. She was the 2013-14 CIF Division 4AA Player of the Year and was named the 2014 Daily Breeze Girls Basketball Newcomer of the Year. As a senior captain, Odionu was named Bishop Montgomery’s Distinguished Athlete Award winner, as well as the school’s Scholar Athlete Award winner. She was named first-team All-Del Rey and a California Collision All-Star Team - Southern Section selection after helping her squad to the 2013-14 CIF Championship. In 2011-12, Odionu helped Buckhorn high school win the North Alabama League championship and was named the tournament MVP.

Janelle Oderah Odionu is the daughter of Chris Odionu and Rosean Okafor and she has one younger brother. She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
