Biography
At Cornell
Junior (2012-13): Lyman started all but one game during her junior season, and ranked third on the team in minutes played (29.8 per contest). She finished the season ranked fourth on the team 26th in the Ivy League with 6.4 points per game, while averaging 2.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steals per contest. Her 2.1 assists per game were good for 15th overall in the Ivy League. Lyman ranked second on the team and 14th in the Ivy League in 3-point shooting percentage (.294), while her 1.3 treys per game ranked first on the team and eighth in the conference. Lyman scored in double-figures nine times, posting a season-high 15 points to go along with four assists and two rebounds in the win at St. Francis (NY). She also registered at least three rebounds in 14 games, including a career-high seven rebounds vs. William & Mary.
Sophomore (2011-12): Lyman started 27 games during her sophomore season, averaging 24.7 minutes per contest. She finished the year averaging 5.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.1 steals per contest. Lyman was one of the team’s most consistent 3-point threats, connecting on .284 (31-of-109) with 1.1 trey per game. She led Cornell in scoring twice and handed out a team-high in assists twice on the season while registering at least one steal in 18 contests. Lyman scored in double-digits five times on the year, including a season-high 14 points against New Hampshire.
Freshman (2010-11): Lyman had an outstanding rookie season, playing in all 28 games and making 27 starts. Her collegiate career started with a bang, as she became the first freshman in Coach Smith’s tenure to play a full 40 minutes in a season opener. She finished the year ranked fourth on the team with 5.8 points per game and also chipped in 2.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. Lyman scored in double-digits six times on the year and led the Big Red in scoring twice, both of which came in Ivy League action. She scored a career-high 19 points vs. Harvard (Feb. 18) and grabbed a personal-best seven rebounds vs. Winston-Salem. She also registered a career-high eight assists vs. Dartmouth (Jan. 28). One of the top 3-point shooters on the team, she connected on .266 from beyond the arc, making 34-of-128 attempts.
At Archbishop Murphy HS
A four-year letter winner at Archbishop Murphy high school, Lyman graduated as the school’s record holder for career 3-pointers (218). She was named to the All-Cascade Conference first team three times and was a two-time first-team all-area selection. Lyman was also named second-team all-state as a junior and served as team captain as a senior. During her career, she helped her team to three Cascade Conference championships and two district championships. Lyman also lettered four times for the cross country team.
Personal
Shelby Paige Lyman is the daughter of Tracey and Tony Lyman and she has one younger brother. She is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
