Biography
As a senior (2021-22)
• Played and started in 24 games in her senior season, averaging 30.6 minutes per contest.
• Averaged 11.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per contest.
• Led the team in blocks (40), also ranking 2nd in the Ivy League in blocks per game (1.7).
• Ranked first on the team in points (276) and rebounds (188) with the highest rebounds-per game (7.8).
• Placed fourth in the league in field goal percentage (.484) and second in shots blocked (1.7).
• Scored in double-figures in most contests over the season, reaching double figures in nine of the first eleven games.
• Smashed her career-high points record in Cornell’s win over Binghamton on Nov. 17., registering 27 points and going 13-for-19 on shot attempts.
• Named to the 2021-22 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team
• Selected as an honorable mention to the 2021-22 All-Ivy League selection.
As a junior (2020-21)
• Season canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a sophomore (2019-20)
• Played in all 26 games as a sophomore, making four starts and averaging 18.2 minutes per contest.
• Made first collegiate start against Brown on Feb. 22.
• Was the first player off the bench 20 times during the season.
• Averaged 5.5 points and 4.9 rebounds per contest.
• Led the team in blocks (18), also ranking 12th in the Ivy League in blocks per game (0.7).
• Ranked third on the team in rebounding (4.9 rpg).
• Scored in double-figures four times, including tallying a career-high 12 points against NJIT on Nov. 19.
• Registered first-career double-double in Cornell’s historic victory over Harvard on Feb. 29, scoring 11 points to go along with a career-high 12 rebounds.
• Blocked a career-high four shots against Niagara on Nov. 21, a mark which ranks ninth all-time in Cornell history for a single game.
As a freshman (2018-19)
• Saw the most playing time of any freshman during the 2018-19 season.
• Played in all 26 games and averaged 11.9 minutes per contest.
• Was the first player off the bench 14 times, and the first forward off the bench three times, during the season.
• Ranked first on the team in blocks (21).
• Fifth in the Ivy League in blocked shots per game (0.8).
• Scored in double-digits three times, including a career-high 12 points vs. Hampton.
• Led Cornell in rebounding once with nine boards vs. Hampton.
• Named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Dec. 31 for her 12-point, nine-rebound performance vs. Hampton.
Prior To Cornell
• Earned four varsity letters in basketball at Blaine High School.
• Served as team captain as a senior.
• Two-time all-conference selection.
• Selected as the Horizontal Jumps MVP in 2017.
• Named the Vertical Jumps MVP in 2016.
• Also lettered three times in track & field, serving as team captain as a senior.

• Theresa Grace Nkechinyeulu Mbanefo is the daughter of Christian Mbanefo and Theresa Gavin and she has one older brother.
• Enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
