As a Senior (2015-16)Brown had a stellar senior campaign, finishing tied for first on the team with 13 goals, a career high. She also led the team with four game-winning goals, developing a knack for scoring when her team needed it most. The highlight of her season came on Senior Day, her final game at Lynah Rink, when she scored the game-winning goal in overtime against rival Harvard to earn the Big Red a berth in the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals. Her first goal of the season helped Cornell steal a point from Colgate on Nov. 17, as she netted the game-tying tally with just 17.6 seconds left in regulation. She finished the season with two hat tricks, with the first coming in a 4-3 win over St. Lawrence on Dec. 4 before adding another in a 6-4 victory over Yale on Jan. 15, getting the Big Red the win after the Bulldogs had battled back. She also scored the game-tying goal to help Cornell draw with nationally ranked Clarkson on Nov. 22, netted two in a win over Union and scored the team’s first goal of the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals at Clarkson.
As a Junior (2014-15)Brown had a career year in 2014-15. She appeared in 31 games, posting new career highs for goals (9), assists (11), and points (20). She was a versatile player, seeing time in a variety of roles across all three Cornell lines. She posted five multi-point games on the year, while she scored game-winning goals against then-sixth ranked Boston University and St. Lawrence in Game 1 of the ECAC Quarterfinals. The highlight of her season came on Dec. 5, when she marked her first career hat-trick as part of a four point night in a record setting 8-3 victory at then-sixth ranked Clarkson.
As a Sophomore (2013-14)Brown saw action in 30 of Cornell’s 34 games this season, recording four goals and three assists for seven points. She had a season-high two goals and one assist Jan. 11 at Mercyhurst to help lift the Big Red over the Lakers, 6-4. She also had the game-winning goal in the ECAC Hockey Tournament quarterfinals against Harvard, a game that the Big Red won 6-4 to advance to the championship game.
As a Freshman (2012-13)
Brown has found a home with the Big Red’s third line during her first season on East Hill. She scored her first career goal against Quinnipiac on Nov. 3 and then added a second two weeks later against Colgate. She had a career-best three points that day at Colgate (Nov. 17), assisting on two Big Red strikes in a 9-2 win.
Before CornellBrown, a dynamic forward with great offensive instincts and a competitive nature, comes to Cornell from the Shattuck St. Mary’s school in Minnesota. A teammate of rising sophomore Katelyn Pippy with the Pittsburgh Junior Penguins, Brown was also a classmate of junior Alyssa Gagliardi at Shattuck St. Mary’s. She was a bronze medalist at the U16 USA Hockey Nationals in 2009, and in 2010 she was a runner-up at the U19 USA Hockey Nationals. In 2007, she won the skills competition at the U-14 USA Hockey Nationals, and she was part of the 2005 U12 USA Hockey National runner-up team.
PersonalJessica Nicole Brown is the daughter of Greg and Wendy Brown. She has an older sister, Brandy, an older brother, Matt, and a younger sister, Jaycie.
