Biography

All-Ivy Second Team (2013)
ECAC Hockey Third Team (2013)

As a Junior (2012-13)

Slebodnick stepped into the role as Cornell’s starting goaltender in her junior year, earning Second Team All-Ivy and ECAC Hockey Third-Team honors for her efforts. She had five shutouts, a 1.55 goals against average and a .927 save percentage in her junior year, and she moved up from fifth to second on Cornell’s all-time wins list with 51 victories. Slebodnick also tallied three assists on the year, earning the secondary helper on three Big Red goals. Slebondick set the single-season Cornell record for wins in a season with 24 victories, and her 1.55 goals against average was the fifth-best in season history.

As a Sophomore (2011-12)
Slebodnick served as an excellent second goaltender for the Big Red, filling in when Amanda Mazzotta was unable to play. She started 15 games as a sophomore and won 14 of those games, racking up 258 saves with a save percentage of .928. Her 1.45 goals against average was the fourth-best in the country, and she earned five shutouts in her sophomore campaign. She made a season-high 30 saves in a 7-1 win at Quinnipiac on Nov. 19. In the biggest pressure moment of the year, Slebodnick came in to replace Amanda Mazzotta after the first period of the NCAA Quarterfinals against Boston University. Slebodnick played five periods in the game including a terrific shutout effort in nearly three full periods of overtime.

As a Freshman (2010-11)
Slebodnick experienced an outstanding freshman season, stepping into the Big Red lineup and playing exceptionally well after starter Amanda Mazzotta went down due to injury. She began her career by not allowing a goal for the first 197:32, spanning five appearances. That streak is the seventh-longest such streak in ECAC Hockey history. She also posted the first regular-season shutout of Mercyhurst since 2005 when she blanked the Lakers on Jan. 18 in Erie, Pa. She appeared in 16 games, posting a 1.15 goals-against average and a .942 save percentage with a 12-1-1 record and five shutouts.

Before Cornell
Slebodnick was a two-time winner of the team’s Defensive Award at Cushing Academy while also serving as team captain. She also won the team’s sportsmanship award as a junior. She was also selected to attend the Warren Strelow National Team Goaltending Camp in the summer of 2010 for the top United States goaltenders eligible for international play.

Personal
Lauren Jacqueline Slebodnick is the daughter of John and Lucie Slebodnick and has an older brother and a younger brother. She is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
