Biography

As a Senior (2015-16)
Richardson once again played in every game, never missing a contest in all four years of her Cornell career, finishing tied for fifth in Cornell history for career games played with 132. Often played on the top defensive pair, Richardson continued to be a solid stay-at-home defenseman. She finished the season with 43 blocked shots and two assists, including a helper on the Big Red’s first goal of the season, which came against national powerhouse Boston College. Off the ice, she was named one of five finalists for the national Hockey Humanitarian Award for her work with Do It For Daron, an organization devoted to youth mental health awareness.

As a Junior (2014-15)
Richardson had a nice season with her increased role on the blue-line during her junior season. She finished with new career highs in goals, assists and points. She scored the lone goal in the Big Red’s 1-1 tie against Mercyhurst on December 1. That game sparked the squad on a great run through the back half of its schedule. She added a multi-point game in the team’s big 6-2 victory over then-sixth ranked Boston University on Jan. 13. She finished second on the team with 60 blocks.

As a Sophomore (2013-14)
Richardson, a core member of the Big Red’s defensive unit, was one of seven players to appear in all 34 games this season. She finished with five points on one goal and four assists. She scored Cornell’s first goal in Game 2 of the ECAC Hockey Tournament semifinals against Princeton, a game that the Big Red eventually won, 5-3. Her assists came against St. Lawrence, at Syracuse, against Yale and at Rensselaer. She also had 31 blocks this season.

As a Freshman (2012-13)
Richardson has played in every game for the Big Red during her first year on campus, earning three points while seeing time as a defenseman and a left wing. She scored her first career goal against Princeton on Nov. 2 and added a career-best two assists against Syracuse on Jan. 15.

Before Cornell
Richardson is a strong stay-at-home defenseman with an excellent first pass.  A strong, steady competitior, Richardson played with the Canadian U18 national team that recently won the gold medal at the world championship. She also won a gold medal with Team Ontario Red at Canada's U18 nationals. At the club level, she played for the Ottawa Senators PWHL team, where she was an assistant captain. Richardson also played rugby and field hockey for two years in high school.
