As a Senior (2015-16)Woods had another solid year in her final season on East Hill, spending most of her time as a forward, but shifting back to defense several times when the team needed it. She finished third on the team with nine goals. She added eight assists for 17 points on the season. Her first two goals of the season came in dramatic fashion as she scored a shorthanded goal with 1:16 to go and then netted the game-winner with 21 seconds left in a 2-1 win over Princeton on Nov. 6. She scored in a 4-2 win over Boston University on Nov. 28 and in a 4-0 blanking of Vermont on Nov. 29 to help the Big Red to the Windjammer Classic, earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team. She posted five points over Cornell’s final four games of the regular season, including two goals and an assist in a 4-2 win at Brown on Feb. 12, helping lift the Big Red to a playoff berth. She finished her career tied for sixth in Cornell history with four shorthanded goals and 10
th in shots on goal with 348.
As a Junior (2014-15)Woods was also a highly versatile player during her third year with the program. She transitioned from her forward role to the blue-line early on in the season, as the Big Red looked to add more stability and collegiate experience on the backend. The move paid off immediately, as Woods tallied two goals against Yale on Nov. 15 in her first game in her new defensive role. She added multi-point games against Brown (1/17), Union (1/30) and then-fifth ranked Quinnipiac (2/6). Woods finished the season with four goals and a career-high 16 assists; ranking second among Big Red defenders in points and assists.
As a Sophomore (2013-14)Woods was one of seven Big Red players to see action in all 34 games this season and split time between the first and second lines. She finished with nine goals and 13 assists for 22 points and had a season-high three points (1 goal, 2 assists) at the season-opener against Northeastern Oct. 19, where she scored the game-winning goal. She also had the game-winner in the Big Red’s 3-0 victory against Dartmouth Jan. 17. She took the second-most face-offs for the Big Red and went 232-for-555 with a .418 win percent.
As a Freshman (2012-13)Woods spent much of her rookie season as Cornell’s third-line center, specializing in faceoffs. She has also been important on the Cornell special teams unit, scoring five of her 11 goals on the power play and two more short-handed. Woods had a goal in her first career game at Boston University, and she was the top scorer for Cornell in the ECAC Hockey Tournament Semifinal against St. Lawrence. In that game, Woods got a hat trick, including the game-winning goal in the third period to send Cornell to its fourth straight ECAC Hockey Tournament final. Woods also had an assist in that game and was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Before CornellWoods is a skilled and internationally experienced forward with great hands and a strong hockey sense. An excellent and hard-working playmaker, Woods played for the U18 Canadian National Team and also took part in the European Championships. She also played seven games at the Canada Winter Games in 2011 and took part in the Esso Cup, racking up 19 points for the Notre Dame Hounds, who won the cup.
