In the season opener against Villanova, she caused two turnovers and picked up two ground balls, both season highs.

As a Junior (2015)
Hanson appeared in all 16 contests – including four starts – for the Big Red in her third season. She collected one ground ball, one caused turnover and two draw controls in the season debut at Temple on 2/21. She added a pair of ground balls in a victory at Columbia on 3/14. She tallied her first point of the season with a goal at Dartmouth on 4/4. She added an assist against Princeton on 4/11. She forced a season high three caused turnovers to go along with two draw controls against nationally ranked Penn State on 4/14. She finished the year with eight ground balls, seven caused turnovers and 12 draw controls.

As a Sophomore (2014)
Hanson saw time in 13 games this season for the Big Red. She finished the season with three ground balls, two draw controls and three caused turnovers. She had a seasaon-high one ground ball and one caused turnover against Rutgers and recorded both draw controls in the Big Red’s crucial 11-10 overtime victory against Brown.

As a Freshman (2013)
Hanson saw action in five games during her freshman year, coming off the bench against Colgate, Dartmouth, Syracuse, Binghamton and Penn in the Ivy League Tournament Semifinal.

Before Cornell
Hanson had an excellent prep school career, starting strong by being the only underclassmen to make the varsity team as a freshman. She played for Lower New England at the U.S. Lacrosse Women’s Division National Tournament in 2011, earned Academic All-America status in 2011 and 2012, and was on the Under Armour New Jersey Underclass Lacrosse Team in 2011.  Hanson was a senior captain in both lacrosse and soccer earning the Coaches Award at Hotchkiss for her soccer skills. A tall and aggressive lacrosse player, Hanson has the drive and intuition to get to loose balls and to come up with big plays between the restraining lines.  Hanson’s speed and endurance will allow her to fight for playing time in our midfield unit. Hanson excels on the draw control and could play a role in that unit as well.

Personal
Abagail Hanson is the daughter of Laura Finlay and Alexander Hanson. She has an older sister, Eliza, and a younger brother, Perry.
