Biography
As a Senior
Gallagher was a steady presence for the Big Red in net all season, playing in 13 games and having her best season ever in a Cornell uniform. She earned eight of Cornell’s victories while reaching 10 career wins, 100 career saves and 1,000 minutes played this season. She had two games early in the season with nine saves -- then a career high -- and her best game of the year came when Cornell needed it most. Against Penn in the Ivy League Tournament, Gallagher had a career-best 13 saves to help keep the Big Red in the contest against the Quakers. She had 17 ground balls and two caused turnovers, finishing the year with a 11.21 goals against average.
As a Junior
Gallagher got her first career start and first career victory at Colgate on March 7, and she spent much of the year as the Big Red's No. 2 goalie. She played in 10 contests, starting three, and earned three total victories. Coming in to the Ivy League semifinal game against Dartmouth on March 4, Gallagher gave up just three goals in 44 minutes, keeping Dartmouth from extending its lead with four saves. The Big Green did not score in the final 21 minutes of that game.
As a Sophomore
Gallagher played in six contests off the bench, recording an 8.12 goals against average and a .382 save percentage. Gallagher made a career0high five saves off the bench against Ivy foe Harvard and also posted four stops after halftime in the win over Columbia. Gallagher added six ground balls, including three at Loyola, and caused a turnover against the Greyhounds as well.
As a Freshman
Gallagher saw her first varsity action between the pipes against Penn, making one save in her collegiate debut as a reserve in 2010.
At Notre Dame HS
Gallagher was a first-team all-league pick by The Trentonian and an all-area selection by the Trenton Times as a senior at Notre Dame HS. An honorable mention all-league pick as a sophomore and junior, she earned the Trentonian's Unsung Hero award as a junior. The four-year starter and four-year letter winner earned the team's Coach's Award as a junior and senior. She was a two-year letter winner as a defender in field hockey and earned second-team all-conference honors for her club lacrosse team in 2007.
Personal
Courtney Lee Gallagher is the daughter of Paul and Lisa Gallagher and has two younger sisters. Her father, Paul, played baseball at Penn State. Her younger sister, Morgan, plays college lacrosse at Stevenson (Md.) University. She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
