Biography
As a Senior (2018)
• Senior Captain
• Started in all 15 games, ranking third on the team in points (30) and goals (25) and tied for fourth in assists (5).
• Also tied for second in free position goals (8), third in draw controls (24), tied for fourth in caused turnovers (10) and sixth in ground balls (17).
• Set career highs in goals (4, Yale), assists (2, Villanova), points (5, Yale), ground balls (UMass) and caused turnovers (3, Binghamton).
• Scored the game winner in double overtime over UMass.
• Recorded nine multi-point games and seven multi-goal matches, including four with three-plus goals.
• Registered at least one goal in 13 games.
• Scored 50th goal at Harvard and registered 50th point against Rutgers.
As a Junior (2017)
• Made an impact for Cornell in first full season for the Big Red.
• Played in 18 of 19 games, making 13 starts, including the last 12 straight.
• Finished seventh on the team with 25 points on 22 goals and three assists and had the fourth-most draw controls with 31.
• Had eight multi-point outings on the year and earned at least one point in 14 contests.
• In Cornell’s second round NCAA Tournament game against Princeton on May 14, had three goal and a Cornell single-game tournament record six draw controls.
• Also added a hat trick against UAlbany on April 11 and had a three point outing (2g, 1a) against Notre Dame in the NCAA Tournament first round.
• Also contributed 10 ground balls and four caused turnovers.
As a Sophomore (2016)
• Missed sophomore season due to injury.
As a Freshman (2015)
• Appeared in five contests – including three starts – before freshman campaign was ended early due to injury.
• Tallied a multi-point game with a goal and an assist in collegiate debut at Temple on 2/21.
• Added another two point effort in a victory over Binghamton on 3/11.
• Finished the year with four goals and two assists, while also adding three ground balls, two caused turnovers and three draw controls.
Before Cornell
• Like several of her fellow Class of 2018 classmates, Farinholt was also a three-sport athlete in high school.
• She participated in field hockey and indoor track in addition to lacrosse at the St. Catherine School.
• She lettered all four years in field hockey and lacrosse, in addition to three years in indoor track.
• Farinholt had a successful lacrosse career for the Saints.
• She was named All League of Independent Schools her final three seasons.
• She earned Second Team All-State recognition her senior season, while she had a fantastic junior season, earning First Team All-State and US Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-American recognition.
• She also earned the Outstanding Senior Athlete Award following her final season at St. Catherine's.
Personal
• Ida Massie Farinholt is daughter to Bart and Ida Farinholt.
• She has two older brothers; Bart ’13, who graduated from Denison University, and Blair ’16 who still attends Denison.
• Ida possesses strong athletic blood lines.
• Both her brothers played varsity lacrosse at Denison, while her father Bart played football at the University of Virginia.
• Her fraternal grandfather was a minor league pitcher in the New York Yankees farm system from 1955-59, while her maternal grandfather was a varsity tennis player at the University of Virginia.
