Michaela Kissell starts her coaching career after an impressive playing career at Unversity of Miami and Marshall. She joined the Big Red as an assistant coach and helped the team to a 9-10 record in 2012, including a 1-6 mark in Ivy League play.

Kissell was named the Marshall student-athlete of the year for the 2010-11 season, leaving the school with the fourth-highest winning percentage in program history with a record of 55-20. She was ranked as high as No. 27 in the nation in singles, and No. 14 in doubles. Playing with Dominika Zaprazna, the tandem became the first doubles team in Marshall history to go through the regular season undefeated. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the National Indoor Championships last season.

Kissell was named to the All-Conference USA first team both of her seasons at Marshall after transferring from University of Miami, where she was also a first-team member of the All-Atlantic Coast Conference as a sophomore in 2009.

Prior to her time at Marshall, the native of Latrobe, Pa. went undefeated in her high school career, winning three state championships. Kissell also won five Junior National singles titles and doubles title with her younger sister, Joelle.
