Biography
Junior Season — 2013-14Malinchak did not appear in any matches.
Sophomore Season — 2012-13Malinchak was 10-6 in non-scoring matches, including a seven-match winning streak from October to January, where she defeated Army's Haley O'Connor in the 'B' quarterfinals of the Cornell Winter Invitational. In the midst of that streak, Malinchak won the 'F' bracket of the prestigious Billlie Jean King National Tennis Center Collegiate Invitational in New York, easily topping NJIT's Monika Graff in the final, 6-0, 6-2. Malinchak was 6-4 in non-scoring doubles tilts, teaming with classmate Sara Perelman to win the 'B' title at the Cornell Fall Invitational.
Freshman Season — 2011-12Malinchak fought her way into the lineup for three Ivy League matches in the spring, going 0-3 from the No. 6 position. She was also 1-1 in doubles matches, earning a victory alongside classmate Gabby Sullivan at the No. 2 spot in a Feb. 26 match against Binghamton. In tournament play, Malinchak was 5-4 in singles with a second-place finish in the C Bracket of the Cornell Fall Invitational. She was 7-1 in non-league doubles matches, including a perfect 3-0 with Sarah O'Neil to earn the B Bracket title of the Cornell Winter Invitational.
Prior to CornellMalinchak was a two-time letter winner at Pine Crest HS, playing No. 1 singles. She ranked as high as 33rd in Florida on TennisRecruiting.net and as high as 41st in Florida by the USTA.
PersonalCourtney Leigh Malinchak is the daughter of William and Pamela Malinchak and she has two younger sisters and one younger brother. Her father, Bill, played in the NFL for 10 seasons (1966-76) with the Detroit Lions and the Washington Redskins. In 1972, his Redskins lost Super Bowl VII to Miami as the Dolphins capped their perfect season. Malinchak is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
