Biography

Senior Season — 2015-16
The Big Red's two-time captain was primed to once again be a fixture near the top of the Big Red lineup in both singles and doubles before she suffered a season-ending injury in January. She remained in a leadership role with the team throughout the season and was presented with the Captain's Award at the team's postseason banquet. Tanenbaum was also given as the ITA/Cissie Leary Award for Sportsmanship for the Northeast Region. She was 1-2 in both singles and doubles. ... In fall tournaments, Tanenbaum was 6-3 in singles and 8-2 in doubles. At the USTA/ITA Northeast Regionals, she advanced to the quarterfinals in singles after a win over a nationally-ranked opponent from Harvard, and Tanenbaum also teamed with Michelle Wang to advance to the Round of 16 in doubles.

Junior Season — 2014-15
Serving as team captain, Tanenbaum was named to the All-Ivy League second team for both singles and doubles. She competed exclusively from the No. 1 singles position all year with a 6-11 record overall, including an Ivy League victory against Harvard's Nikki Kellenberg in the Big Red's upset victory over the Crimson on April 3. Tanenbaum and Alexandra D'Ascenzo also comprised the Big Red's No. 1 doubles team for all seven of its Ivy League matches. The duo finished with a 3-3 record, plus one incomplete match. Tanenbaum becomes the program's first competitor to earn All-Ivy honors in both singles and doubles in the same season since Sarah O'Neil in 2012, and just the fourth in program history. Olga Itskhoki (1996) and Akane Kokubo (2004) are the others. She was 8-7 overall in doubles. ... In fall tournaments, Tanenbaum was 7-2 in singles with an 'A' bracket title at the Cornell Fall Invitational. She was also an impressive 11-1 in doubles, teaming with Lizzie Stewart to advance to the quarterfinals of the USTA/ITA Northeast Regionals. At the team's postseason banquet, she was presented the Captain's Award.

Sophomore Season — 2013-14
Tanenbaum made a big jump to become the Big Red's exclusive entry at No. 1 singles, posting a 5-12 record in dual matches after spending much of her freshman season in the lower half of the lineup. All five of her victories came in non-league play, including three consecutive straight-set victories against Akron's Shannon Newnes, Binghamton's Sara Kohtz and Army's Jamila Paul. Four of her five non-league singles losses went to a third set. In dual-match doubles, Tanenbaum was tied with Alexandra D'Ascenzo for the team lead with an 8-5 record. Tanenbaum was 3-1 when paired with Lauren Frazier at the No. 2 position and 4-2 when teaming with Christy Kung at the No. 3 spot. ... Tanenbaum was 5-4 in non-scoring tournament singles matches, including three straight-set victories to advance to the 'A' bracket final of the Cornell Fall Invitational. She also had a 9-2 record in tournament doubles, winning all three 'A' bracket matches with Laila Judeh at the Cornell Winter Invitational after reaching the Cissie Leary Invitational 'A' bracket finals with Alexandra D'Ascenzo.

Freshman Season — 2012-13
Tanenbaum had a very successful collegiate debut, posting a 13-5 record in singles and 9-6 mark in doubles during dual-match play. A fixture at the Nos. 4 and 5 positions, Tanenbaum was also a perfect 4-0 from the No. 3 spot in singles. She was 2-5 in Ivy League play, including straight-set victories over Dartmouth's Akiko Okuda and Penn's Jaime Yapp-Shing. Tanenbaum was a perfect 11-0 in nonleague play. In doubles, she was 7-2 when competing at the No. 3 spot with classmates Christy Kung and Laila Judeh. She was then pushed up to the Nos. 1 and 2 positions later in the season, going 14 in Ivy League play while competing with senior Christine Ordway. ... Tanenbaum was also 9-5 in singles and 8-5 in doubles during non-scoring tournaments. Judeh and Tanenbaum won the 'A' doubles title at the Cornell Winter Invitational.
