Biography
A transfer from North Florida, Sanchez played at No. 1 singles and doubles for the Lady Ospreys. Her primary weapon is a heavy topspin forehand, and she has very good hands and is the best volleyer on the team. With the right partner at doubles, she could be one of the best doubles team in the Ivy League.
2008- 09 Season
In her first spring for the Big Red, Sanchez player mostly No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. Her season was highlighted by a three-set victory over Columbia early on in the season, where she came back from a one set deficit to win. She also won a team-high nine wins in doubles. Sanchez made it to the semifinals at the Cornell Fall Inviational. She also has excellent doubles instincts and paired with Stephanie Kent to win the Red doubles bracket at the Cissy Leary Inviational and advanced to the final 16 at the ITA Northeast Regionals.
At Sagemont Upper
A graduate of Sagemont Upper School, Sanchez was ranked No. 1 in girls 12 and 14 in Colombia, No. 8 in girls 14 in South America and in the top 20 in girls 16 and 18 in Florida.
Personal
Natalia Sanchez is the daughter of Alberto Sanchez and Laura Hernandez, and she has two brothers. She is enrolled in Cornell’s College of Arts and Sciences.
