Biography
Miller has an all-around complete game with very solid groundstrokes, as well as soft hands around the net. She shines as an outstanding doubles player, using her solid returns and volleys to rise above most players in the league. This fall, Miller helped the Big Red earn the B doubles title at the Cornell Invitational in the fall and paired with teammate Stephanie Kent to earn a couple of impressive victories at the Purdue Invitational. In singles, Miller made it to the B singles final at the Cornell Invitational, as well as defeating Iowa’s No. 6 player at the Women’s College Invitational and Tulane’s No. 5 player at the Purdue Invitational.
2007-08 Season
A doubles specialist, Miller tied for the team league with 10 wins while playing from the No. 2 position with a variety of partners. In singles, she posted a 2-1 record with wins against Pitt and Princeton. Her only loss was a close three setter against Yale. In the fall season, Miller won the Flight B consolation singles and was a finalist in the A doubles division at the Cornell Fall Invitational. She competed in the main draw of doubles at the ITA East Regionals and was a captain of the team.
At Upper St. Clair
A state doubles champion, Miller also helped her tennis team at Upper St. Clair HS to two state championships. She was a third-place finisher in singles and second place in doubles at the state championships, and received a 150th-place national ranking by the USTA.
Personal
Shayna Leigh Miller is the daughter of Brad and Ann Miller and has a younger brother. Miller is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
