Chis did not compete during her junior campaign.
2008- 09
After missing much of the spring season, Chis came on in March as one of the most versatile players for the Big Red. She filled in at five of the six singles positions, including a three-set heartbreaker at No. 1 against Rutgers. She also teamed up with Natalia Sanchez during the Ivy League season as one of the best doubles squads in the league. In the fall, Chis partnered with Ruxandra Dumitrescu in A doubles at the Cornell Invitational, where they made it to the semifinals, and they also defeated the No. 3 pair from Michigan State at the Purdue Invitational. In singles, Chis had two big wins at the Women’s College Invitational, defeating the No. 2 player from Wake Forest and taking out Virginia Tech’s entry in the qualifying event. She also defeated the No. 2 player from Michigan State at the Purdue Invitational.
2007-08
Chis made an immediate impact on the team as a freshman, rotating between the No. 1 and No. 2 singles spots and finishing the season with six match wins. She gained valuable experience by playing two nationally ranked opponents, including the No. 5 player in the country. Chis secured big wins playing in the top spot against both Columbia and Pitt. In doubles, she ended the season with a winning record of 10-7, including a seven-match win streak to begin her collegiate career. Chis had a two wins in singles and also in doubles in the fall, including impressive wins at both spots against Penn State.
At Sentinel SS
Chis was a two-time captain of her squad at Sentinel SS, which won the Provincial championships in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
Personal
Sinziana Chis is the daughter of Ovid and Joana Chis and has one brother. She is enrolled in Cornell’s College of Arts and Sciences.
