10/2/2014 10:14:00 AM

ITHACA, N.Y. – Coming off solid performances at both the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown and the Harry Anderson Invitational, men's cross country returns to action this weekend at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University.

The meet promises to be one of the most competitive events on the east coast this weekend. Several top Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regional teams will send squads to the event. The Cornell men enters the weekend ranked No. 8 in the USTFCCCA's latest Northeast Regional poll.

"The Paul Short Invitational will give some of our guys the chance to continue building the great momentum they have established in recent weeks," Coach Zeb Lang said. "It will also give a few guys who didn't race last weekend an awesome venue to get in a competitive race."

The event will afford the opportunity for the Big Red to evaluate some of the impressive depth that has emerged this season. While some of the top performers from the Boston College Invitational will hold out of this weekend's meet to continue preparing for the upcoming Pre-National Invitational, several young standouts will be in action this weekend looking to showcase their abilities on a premiere stage.

"We are looking forward to the opportunity this weekend and we always love going to this top-notch meet," Lang said.
