Campbell/ITA Division I Women's Preseason Rankings
ITHACA, N.Y. – Senior
Sarah O'Neil and sophomore
Lauren Frazier have been tabbed 52nd in doubles in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's preseason rankings. The tandem is coming off a season in which it garnered First Team All-Ivy League honors.
Frazier and O'Neil were the Big Red's exclusive No. 1 doubles team throughout the Ivy League season, posting an impressive 5-2 record against the Ancient Eight's other top doubles teams. The success culminated with a sweep of nationally ranked pairs in the final weekend — Sol Eskenazi and Jules Rodin from Penn, and Hilary Bartlett and Lindsay Graff from Princeton. Those were the only two doubles teams placed ahead of Frazier and O'Neil in the Northeast Region at season's end.
The Cornell pair posted a 8-3 record overall, with all of its competition on the season coming at the No. 1 spot in dual matches. The duo's first match together was on March 3 against Fairleigh Dickinson — a 8-5 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson's Irina Dementyeva and Anna Rapoport.
The Big Red returns all eight team members who competed in dual matches last season, kicking off the 2012-13 campaign this weekend with the Cornell Fall Invitational from Sept. 14-16 at Reis Tennis Center.
