Sarah O'Neil won "A" Flight Singles, freshman
Laila Judeh took the "B" Flight Singles title and the sophomore tandem of
Courtney Malinchak and
Sara Perelman finished atop "B" Flight Doubles to highlight the women's tennis performance at the Cornell Fall Invitational. Competitors from the Big Red, Albany and Buffalo wrapped up play at the three-day event Sunday at Reis Tennis Center.
O'Neil won the all-Cornell "A" Flight Singles final, rebounding after a first-set loss to junior
Ryann Young to secure a 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory. Judeh also defeated a Big Red teammate in the "B" Flight Singles final, securing a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Perelman on Sunday.
In "A" Flight Doubles, the top-seeded Buffalo team of Tanvi Shah and Miranda Podlas defeated Cornell's nationally ranked pair of sophomore
Lauren Frazier and O'Neil in the championship, 8-6. But the Big Red took the "B" Flight Doubles crown, with Malinchak and Perelman defeating Cornell senior
Kirsten Kohagen and freshman
Christy Kung, 8-5.
