ITHACA, N.Y. — The women's tennis team continues to have a strong presence at the Cornell Winter Invitational this weekend, with Sarah O'Neil and Sara Perelman earning singles finals berths and the freshman team of Laila Judeh and Dena Tanenbaum advancing to the A Doubles championship on Sunday.

In A Singles, senior Sarah O'Neil advanced to Sunday's final with a pair of victories. She defeated Seton Hall's Rocio Portela, 7-5, 2-6, 6-2, in the quarterfinals, then downed teammate Dena Tanenbaum, 6-3, 7-6(5), in the semifinals. Top-seeded O'Neil, the Big Red's incumbent No. 1, will take on second-seeded Chloe Sher, of Seton Hall, in Sunday's final. Sher eliminated Cornell's only other entry in the bracket earlier in the day, defeating freshman Laila Judeh in the quarterfinals, 7-5, 6-2.

Sophomore Sara Perelman survived an all-Cornell semifinal in B Singles to earn a Sunday finals date with Army's Elle Taylor. Perelman cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Army's Morgan Kiser to start the day, then rallied to defeat classmate Courtney Malinchak in the semis, 1-6, 6-4, 6-1. Freshman Christy Kung won her first match of the day, 6-2, 6-4 over Army's Larraine Saavedra, but was later ousted in three sets by Taylor in the other semifinal.

Tanenbaum has teamed with Judeh to earn a berth in the A Doubles final, after the tandem won a Saturday semifinal against teammates Kung and Perelman, 8-1. Judeh and Tanenbaum will face Seton Hall's Julia Keenan and Madison Shoemaker, after Pirates' pair knocked off Cornell's Malinchak and O'Neil in the semifinals, 8-3.

There is no team scoring at the event, which wraps up Sunday before the Big Red's dual season openers next Saturday against UMBC and St. John's.
