ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell senior Eitan Chemerinski has been named to the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District team for the second straight year. He was one of just two Ivy League players to advance to the Academic All-America ballot, joining Brown's Matthew Sullivan.
Chemerinski's 3.86 grade point average in Applied Economics and Management played a large part in earning a second straight spot on the District I team. He will now be among 40 players to vie for a spot on the prestigious Capital One Academic All-America squad. The Big Red has had five Academic All-Americans in program history, including two-time pick Chris Wroblewski.
Chemerinski is averaging 7.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.3 blocks for the Big Red this season in 19 games, including 12 starts. Cornell's career leader in field goal percentage (.624), including an impressive .658 this season. Chemerinski posted 17 points (7-of-7 shooting) and two key offensive rebounds in the final minute in the win at Binghamton and scored a career-high 19 points on 9-of-12 shooting to go along with six rebounds, a block and a steal against Longwood. He scored 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor in the win at Saint Francis (Pa.).
